Meet Ms. Rivers

My name is Crystal Rivers and I am excited to be a part of the East Lake family. I am originally from New Orleans, where I graduated from Edna Karr Magnet High School and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Dillard University. After graduating, I worked with adults who struggled to read above a sixth grade level. After Hurricane Katrina,  I moved to Georgia and earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. I taught high school English for a few years and realized my passion for helping students problem solve, learn resilience and overcome obstacles. Thus, I went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling from Capella University.

I worked as a counselor at Lamar County Primary School, where I implemented many programs, worked with all faculty/staff members and established positive relationships with students. I am truly looking forward to doing the same at East Lake. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, attending martial arts classes, spending time with family, watching movies and attending church services.
