The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is an annual reading competition for students in Georgia, designed to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading. Named in honor of Helen Ruffin, a former educator and advocate for reading, the event challenges students to read a selected list of books and compete in teams to answer questions about the stories. It fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and a passion for reading among young learners.
At East Lake Elementary, students interested in the team will complete an application each fall. Those selected to participate will be notified and then required to read the selected book list for that school year.
Look for information each fall to apply.
